YELLOW CRANE
We are Yellow Crane
Katrina Rose Agnew
Lead Singer, Lyricist & Composer
Katrina Rose Agnew is a mezzo vocalist with a vocal range spanning three octaves and two semitones, recognized for a restrained intensity that suggests a deeper emotional current beneath the surface. Her voice carries an arresting duality, at once luminous and haunting, evoking an atmosphere that feels both intimate and cinematic.
Her strength lies not only in power, but in discernment. She balances a commanding belt with the instinct to withhold, allowing space and subtlety to shape meaning. This dynamic control creates tension and release within her performances, giving each phrase a sense of intention and narrative weight.
As the lyricist for Yellow Crane, Katrina writes with a focus on poetic symbolism and cinematic storytelling. Her work constructs vivid emotional landscapes while turning the lens inward, often prompting reflection as much as observation. She moves fluidly between sincerity and irony, using contrast and occasional humor to deepen the impact of her writing without undercutting its emotional core.
Her creative process is immersive and exacting. Melodies often begin instinctively, then evolve through collaboration, with a willingness to dismantle and rebuild in service of the story. She is known to revisit a piece repeatedly, reshaping structure, perspective, and tone until it fully resolves.Â
Katrina trained with Broadway veterans Jacquelyn Piro Donovan and Sarah Litzsinger through Broadway Pro Voice, studied classical voice under Susan Johnson, and developed punk and rock vocal techniques with Pullman vs Paxton. She also taught theatre arts, with a speciality in character development at Class Act School of the Performing Arts from 2013 to 2018.
Outside of Yellow Crane, Katrina works across multiple creative disciplines, including photography, styling, and direction. She most recently appeared as Yitzhak in Hedwig and the Angry Inch at The Showbox Market, continuing to expand her work as a multidisciplinary artist.
Jonathan Hazan
Guitarist, Composer & Producer
The driving musical force behind Yellow Crane’s songs, Jonathan operates in the deceptive spaces between moody and playful, familiar and obscure, bouncing between the gently minimalistic and ferociously chaotic.
Â
A student of the new post-genre era of music, Jonathan’s compositions draw from a wide range of influences and styles, including subtle ethnic elements to infuse a unique sense of drive, tension, and atmosphere into the modern rock aesthetic. His guitar work is often subdued and intentional, lending space to the vocals and rhythm section to shine and power Yellow Crane’s groove, and making sure that when his inventive riffs finally hit - they hit hard. Always in motion in search of the next piece, and working off of Katrina’s endless vault of lyrics, Jonathan will often engage the band with anything from a riff, a collection of ideas, to a full sketch of song, and hand it off to them to do their magic.

Outside of Yellow Crane, Jonathan leads the progressive metal trio Comb.
Sharon Renold
Bassist, Keyboardist, Singer & Arranger
Sharon anchors Yellow Crane from within, shaping its sound through bass, keys, and voice. Where the band leans into space and atmosphere, her role is often to pull it back into focus, adding weight, movement, and clarity without losing tension.

Her bass work carries more than foundation, often moving into melodic and textural territory to create depth and forward motion. With a focus on translating detailed, produced sounds into a live setting, she approaches each part as both structure and color. Vocally, she adapts to what the music calls for. At times she blends seamlessly, at others she creates contrast, occasionally introducing more tonal or ethnic textures that expand the band’s sonic palette. Her layered harmonies and vocal arrangements play a defining role in Yellow Crane’s recorded sound.

In the writing process, she is often brought in when a section needs to be shaped or completed. Bridges, transitions, and evolving sections tend to take form here, guided by a sense of pacing and progression. Her contributions often sit in the spaces between ideas, where something is still unresolved.
Outside of Yellow Crane, Sharon works as a content creative lead and producer at Scott’s Bass Lessons. She is also active as a solo artist and collaborator, including work with the Grammy-nominated Berklee Indian Ensemble.
Lea Anderson
Drummer, Arranger
Lea (Eve) Anderson is a multi-instrumentalist and session musician taking part in several performing acts along the West Coast and East Coast. She is the primary songwriter, arranger, and lead singer in GENEVA and the drummer and an arranging member in Yellow Crane.
Â
Beneath the rhythm of Yellow Crane’s live performance is Lea (Eve) Anderson. Holding it down on the drums, Lea brings strong, confident energy in developing the grooves of Yellow Crane’s driving music, within the band’s dark alternative sound injecting the simplicity of classic rock alongside soulful articulation. Splashing in blues and funk licks, she credits many of these undertones to the notable names of Steve Jordan and Ahmir Thompson. Knowing the atmospheric nature of Yellow Crane’s songwriting, she often holds back, leaving breathing room to the melodic vocal and guitar interludes.
Â
Despite the common conventional composure of rhythm sections, Lea looks to Sharon as they trade energy as if they were frontwomen, making a large part of the stage feel like as small as a closet. Motivated by singer Katrina’s emotional lyricism and Jonathan’s fantastic stank faces, Lea toes the line on a sight to behold of a rhythm section.
